Joshua Turns 7!

A bow & arrow
His very own bible

Lex had to try too
Zach liked the plastic knife that came with the set

More fun at Artsports
Zach learned how to sit and bounce back up (these boys should have seen their mom at the height of her trampoline-in-the-backyard days:)

A trip to Toys R Us to pick out a gift (with grandparent $ and toys r us bday club coupon)

Some time at home to play with the new toys & the Wii rental game Josh picked out

Dinner of his choice- Spicy Chicken (orange chicken) at Panda Express!

We got to the pool a little before family swim time started so Zach and Lex went to the playground while Josh caught a couple Z's. Birthdays can be exhausting!

Cool indoor pool with wave pool, whirlpool, and slide. The kids had a blast.

Zach loves to 'punch' the waves

She liked her dora floaties- she was rarin to go all over the place and wanted goggles like Josh.

Cake time! Chocolate, of course.

Happy Birthday, Josh!!
He and I were playing wii bowling the other day and I was telling him I was going to get a stike and said, "watch this, my little friend!" well, I didn't get one and then it was his turn and he did get a stike and said, "you see, little friend can do BIG things!" So true, my little friend:)

Lexi's Short-Cut

She calls haircuts, shortcuts. I put the cape on her and she said, "oh, this is a nice jacket. It's all cozy." Oh, she is a cutie pie!
and she is soooooooooooo (x100) much better during haircuts than her bro's. I am so grateful not to have 4 yrs. of pure struggle and torture to make it through a simple haircut with her.
watching wii (not caring it is almost 80 degrees out- they like to be cozy. Lexi even asked Dave to start a fire too:)
playing wii- it's been a great game for the kids and for family time.
At dinner tonight Zach came up to me and started with a common phrase of his lately, "I just want to tell you this..." He proceded to tell me about how loud yelling equals big trouble and something about there being a rule about not throwing soap at someone while they are swinging or else they won't be able to see. After his quite lengthy sharing he says, " That's just a little bit of my brain stuff" to which I replied, "that's awesome!" and he quickly says, "but there's more!" He is a hoot and a half:)

Back to School

Two boys at French Elementary (and a girl who wishes she was) Lexi always wants to wear her backpack too as the boys grab theirs on our way to drop them off in the mornings.

Back to School night- After the intro in the gym and told Zach we would follow him to his classroom- he made 2 wrong turns, so guess he doesn't quite know his way around the school yet:) Once in Zach's room Lexi quickly took a seat and started writing on whatever paper was in front of her.
First week of all day kindergarten = one tired little boy. He seems to really like it, talks about some kids in class, the funny, bad, etc. things that happen during the day (I get sooooo much more info from him than from his tight lipped older brother) He has even been trying to get kids phone numbers (has happened with kids at the park as well as school) ever since his uncle Ed advised that he needed to get girls phone numbers not just their names:) He has taken you seriously, Ed! I am now trying to tell him that just names are sufficient.
Josh always needs to say a pet/goodbye to Rico before heading out the door and as we get to school, Josh would head off to his classroom and say, "bye, Dan!" to Zach. By the second day Zach told him that at school he is Zach. Zach also refers to the playground as "the park" (like when he says what they did at school he says, "go to the park") since he has been going there for the past year "to play at the park" long before it was the school playground or recess.

First Day of Kindergarten...

Setting up all his Bakugon for when he gets home from school
My big, handsome kindergarten boy

pretty happy about his superhero backpack

The school boys
getting settled in his classroom
bye Zach, have a good day!
and the girls headed to the coffee shop for some reading and relaxation
Lexi took this one of me- not too bad!
and of course, there's always writing involved (thankfully it is back to paper for the most part)
picking him up from school & saying good-bye to teacher, Ms. Campos

he survived the first day and said, "it was fun!" I get quite a bit more detail out of him than Josh- like a conversation he had with a girl, a funny thing a boy did during rest time, what he chose for lunch and that he did try to convince his teacher his name was Dan- don't think it went over very well. I told him he can be Dan at home, but needs to be Zachary at school. Thankfully, he's ok with that:)
