DAN

Dan will disappear for periods of time, but he keeps coming back! This was the paper that Zach brought home from Awana last night. I almost didn't notice it, but started laughing the next day when I realized that Zach had printed DAN at the top of his page:)

Playdate

Lexi and I get to join the other moms and kids from church once in awhile for a playdate, last Friday was Artsport fun and then lunch at Costco.

Happenings

A bit of High School Musical sing and dance time...
interrupted by big brothers
But don't let them fool you- both boys sit and watch it all the way through- mutiple times as well!
MLK day off school- our friends from Denver came to play
the little ones in the kitchen

the big ones playing wii
Also, the other day I was putting on my make-up while Lexi wandered in and was, of course, instantly interested- so I showed her how to do a few things and let her try on herself- eyebrow brush and pencil and blush and after her beautifying she declared, "That's more like it!"

Pueblo Zoo

Last week-end we went down to the Pueblo Zoo- not one of the premier zoo's of the world, but with some free coupons and free before 3 kids it was worth it to see at least once
Lexi flips between wanting to sit in the stroller and wanting to push the stroller

maps were big again...

Dave's fave- the yurts- he's always planning our move to his customized yurt
fun in the spider web

penguin feeding time
beautiful weather day- in January! love it!

Headed Southwest

Last weekend we went down to Canon City in search of some fish
the kids did a little riding while we loaded the car

we stopped off to look at the Royal Gorge Bridge since it was right near there. It used to be free but now is quite costly if you want to enter the area and go across it, etc. I actually think I'm good with this view and not all interested in crossing a bridge suspended above a big canyon.
some free range cows- no fences and big horns- we stayed in the car and used the zoom aspect of the camera!
and finally some fishing
a bit iced over on the edges!

Zach tries his hand at it for a couple minutes and then he's had his fill- josh on the other hand could be out there all day
and Lexi's always got to try what the big bro's are doing

Zach was quickly on to looking for sticks and declared himself "king of the sticks"
the only fish we saw~ poor guy got frozen in the ice
but it's still fun to get out
and we found a great riverwalk - really pretty and nice weather to be out walking

Laughter is Good

Here is a picture of Zach last week as he took to the top of the toy box and called a family meeting. After we all assembled he proceeded to instruct us on how we were all going to be paired up to play a game of Bakugon. That boy is nuts for bakugon and it is such a shame that no one else in the family shares that passion:)

In the car tonight he shared that, "maybe when I grow up I might take your van" after I tried to stifle a laugh and ask why he said, "cause you have 2 cars and you can just use dad's." He seems to occaisionally be planning his departure from our home and coming up with things he will need or likes and consequently will be taking them with him.
The boys were telling us they had been playing Alvin and the Chipmunks with Sienna & Cambria and who was playing which character. (not surprisingly Zach was Dave- the guy in charge of the chipmunks- Josh was Simon- he said he liked that he does experiments) Lexi said she wanted to play too to which Zach was explaining there was no one else for her to be and she couldn't. I said there must be something she could be and pretty quickly Zach came up with, "you could be a rock! Just curl up in the corner and don't move."
The boys were playing pretend Bakugon in the car one afternoon and I hear Lexi joining in copying the boys saying, "ability card ACTIVATE!" just as I was thinking, as I often do, that poor girl doesn't get to play any girl things I hear her say, "strawberry shortcake ACTIVATE" well ok, that's a little better:)
Whenever Dave leaves for work Lexi
says, "Have a very merry christmas, Dad!"
Dave is driving a yellow schwans truck now at work and when Lexi saw it one day she said, "I love daddy's truck- it's beautiful!"

Skating round 2/ Hockey

We scouted out a couple goodwill stores and found 2 hockey sticks and one broom to be taped up. So last Sat. the 2nd we decided to head back to the pond and brought some friends along.

no real hockey going on yet, but fun slipping around on the ice with sticks

It started out nice- even warmer than when we had gone on Wed. however within 5-10 minutes we spotted the first flakes and soon afterwards the clouds were coming in and it was coming down quite a bit harder. So we all piled into the van to eat our picnic lunch and then headed down the hill. Of course 15 min. south there had been no snow!
