Decorating the Tree- 1st Edition

They started on the little tree while we got the big one ready
First time it fell over- fortunately- no lights or ornaments on it yet, unfortunately- just filled the base with water and stay green, soaked the carpet and got sap on the couch
first time stringing lights- josh is always a great helper with the lights

and mom always gets a kick out of lighting up the kids...

Lexi whipped hers off pretty quick, then started crying when it got caught in her hair

they all got into it and had fun

we spent about 1.5 hrs on it sat. evening and 1.5 hrs sun. morning. Zach was really into it and kept asking for more ornaments
Not pictured between the photo above and below was the moment 20 min. after getting just about every ornament we have on the tree- it toppled, again soaking the carpet and breaking a couple ornaments. Also not pictured is me taking all the ornaments off, dragging it out to the back patio, leaving it there overnight to find the water had frozen, dragging it back inside, standing it up with some wrist weights and bag of flour holding down one side of the base, taking all the messed up lights off, restringing the lights, and telling the kids that no, we can't decorate it again just yet.
So for now at least we get the nice pine smell, the pretty white light effect at night and hopefully the kids can have fun decorating a second time when my parents get here next week.(and dad can do something to make sure it won't be falling down a 3rd time, if that's possible)
